The Insurrection At The Capitol

The Insurrection At The Capitol

This image is from the summer of 2012, when I was still in the hobby phase of my photography journey.

This is an image that required a long exposure to create...two seconds in this instance.

You can't handhold the camera that long and produce a usable image, so you have to use a tripod.

I was using my tripod and managed to create a few images like this one before the Capitol police rolled up on me and told me that I can't set up a tripod here, basically because it makes the police uncomfortable.

Whether it's an official policy or not, I got shooed away by the Capitol police and had to go across the street to finish my photography.

Look how damn far I am from the Capitol dome!

How is one dude with a camera this far away from the building a threat that had to be addressed, but a mob is allowed to storm the Capitol?

I look at that crowd that has brought anarchy and induced a curfew in my city and I don't see people who look like me.

It's amazing how non-lethal the police are towards some people.
