Farm Tour: Mel 'n Nem Farms

Farmer Jamelle Thomas, owner of Mel 'n Nem Farms in Bowie MD, runs a teaching farm.

That means she doesn't farm to make money, she uses her farm to teach people how to grow food.

Expect to see a lot more of Jamelle and her farm because the work she's doing aligns perfectly with the purpose of Eat Local TV, so we will be visiting Mel 'n Nem Farms on an ongoing basis.

This is a photo of a meeting of the minds between two farmers I've interviewed.

On the right is Farmer Bipen who is working to develop AI-powered robots as farmhands to help small farmers with the labor issue that they all experience. You can check out Bipen's farm tour and interview here.

On the left is Bipen's robotics engineer and in the middle is Farmer Isaac, whose farm tour you can check out here.

Bipen visited Isaac's farm to see how okra is harvested so that his team can begin figuring out how to train a robot to do it.

This kind of collaboration is exactly what I had in mind when I started Eat Local TV.
